State Street Farmers Market in the Downtown Center on State Street is open. The Farmers Market is open from May till October on Saturdays from 7am till 11:00am. The 63rd annual Russell County Fair and Horse Show in Castlewood, Virginia, will run September 3rd through September 11th. The annual Washington County Fair and Burley Festival in Abingdon, Virginia, will run September 13th through 18th. Activities include educational exhibits, concerts, talent shows, beauty pageants, and a parade. Daily exhibits will include farm equipment, crops, tobacco, livestock, foods, and flowers. There will be nightly concerts at 8:00 pm on the entertainment stage. The 2010 Boo-B-Que and Benefit singing is set for Tuesday, September 14th, food and fun start at 5:30pm. The event is being held at Beck Mountain Corn Maze - Entertainment Barn located at 110 Corn Maze Lane in Elizabethton, Tn. The tickets are $25 per person, this ticket includes BBQ dinner, drink and dessert and live entertainment provided by Kim Lyons and Kyle Stephens. There will also be games like Pony Pile Bingo, Corn Hole, a petting zoo for kids and much more. The proceeds from this event will go to the Juanita Vaughn cancer fund, a lady battling breast cancer with a massive amount of mounting medical bills. If you can't come out for the event donations are welcomed and can be made at the Mountain State Credit Union.

The 23rd annual Suzuki Top Gun Showdown at Muddy Creek Raceway is the featured event of the 2010 motocross season. This is the series finale for the THOR UNITED STATES MEGA series. friday is test and tune day, Saturday is a final last chance qualifying race to get into the Main Event on Sunday. Sharky 500

On October 16th Speedway Children's Charities & Bristol Motor Speedway will drop thousands of rubber sharks into Beaver Creek racing 500 yards to see which one takes the checkered flag in the Sharky 500. The winning shark will earn its owner the BMS pace car, valued at more than $32,000. The first several across the finish line scoring some amazing prizes, including a second-place prize of $5,000 in merchandise from Grand Home Furnishings. The sharks are $10.00 and all proceeds go to the Bristol chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.
