Ice Skating Rink at Bristol Motor Speedway November 11, 2008 through January 11, 2008
The Ice Skating Rink will open six days a week, beginning on Tuesday, November 11 and running through January 11. Tuesday through Thursday, the rink will open from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday hours are from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday the rink will open from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The cost to skate is $5, plus an additional $2 for skate rental.

Speedway in Lights at Bristol Motor Speedway November 14, 2008 thru January 3, 2009
The region's most dazzling holiday light show returns to Bristol Motor Speedway. Speedway In Lights kicks off its 12th season with more lights and a route that offers visitors the chance to take a lap around "The World’s Fastest Half-Mile." The 2008 display will have thousands of new lights and animated attractions as part of Speedway In Lights. More than 1.5 million lights and nearly 200 displays make up this year’s Speedway In Lights. As always, the light extravaganza features crafts in Christmas Village, where children can pose for photos with Santa, roast marshmallows and enjoy some hot chocolate. In addition to spicing up the region’s holiday season, proceeds from the event will benefit the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, brightening the lives of thousands of children. Speedway in Lights will be open nightly 6-10 p.m. November 14 through January 3. Tickets are available at the Bristol Motor Speedway gate. Car tickets are $10 Sunday through Thursday and $12 Friday and Saturday. Activity van tickets are $15 Sunday through Saturday. Bus tickets are $65 Sunday through Saturday.

66th Annual Santa Train November 22, 2008 7:30am till 3:00pm
The 66th Annual Santa Train is gearing up to hit the tracks. It's the annual train journey through Appalachia where Santa and volunteers from Kingsport take 15 tons of gifts, candies and toys to children in Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee. Thousands of families in rural communities turn out to welcome the Santa Train to their hometowns each year, in 14 towns along a 110-mile trek through Appalachia, including the final stop in Kingsport, Tn.

The Country Christmas Show will be held at Viking Hall beginning Friday, November 28th through Sunday, November 30th. The 2008 Annual Greeneville Christmas Parade will be on Sunday, December 7th at 2pm. The theme will be "Deck the Halls". The parade route will remain the same. From Bohannon, the parade will turn left onto Main Street and continue to McKee Street, turning left at the traffic light. The WXBQ Rabbit's 6th Annual Toys-4-Tots Bicycle Roundup December 10, 2008 thru December 12, 2008
The WXBQ Rabbit, the Marine Corps Reserve of "Lima" Company, 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines, the Tri-Cities, TN Detachment #969 of the Marine Corps Leaque and the Salvation Army and of course Santa, will be teaming for the 6th Annual Toys-4-Tots Bicycle Roundup. The Roundup will take plce December 10th thru December 12th. During this 72 hour event these organizations will be at various Wal-Mart and K-Mart locations to collect new bicycles for needy children in the Tri-Cities.
Wrapped Shoeboxes to help Aid our Veterans December 12, 2008 is the deadline for boxes
The City Parks and Recreation Department will be joining forces with Bristol's own recording artist April Taylor in an effort to aid homeless veterans here in the Tri-Cities area. They ask that you wrap the bottom of a shoebox with holiday theme paper and also the lid seperatly. Once the box is wrapped fill the box with approved item and secure the lid on the box with a rubber band. Filled boxes may be dropped off at the Bristol Tn. Parks and Recreation offices located at 325 McDowell St. in Bristol before December 12th. April Taylor and her crew will collect the boxes and deliver them to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Johnson City. Some approved items include toothpaste, toothbrushes, washclothes, bibles,candy, pens, soap and socks.
