The 1920s-themed\, outdoor watch party will be held at the Downtown Center (810 State Street) in Bristol. Festivities kick off with live music by Northfork. The watch party will synchronize at 10 p.m. EDT with Circle Network’s global premiere. \n“We are very excited for ‘Born in Bristol’ to be shared with the world and to celebrate this historic 95th Anniversary\,” said Leah Ross\, executive director of advancement for the Birthplace of Country Music. “Many of our local residents and locations are featured in the docudrama\, and we’re thrilled to share the world premiere with our wonderful community.” \nThe event is free\, but the public is asked to RSVP online through the Events page at BirthplaceOfCountryMusic.org. Attendees are encouraged to dress in the period of the roaring twenties. Movie concessions and adult beverages will be available for purchase; alcohol will only be sold to patrons 21 and over with valid photo ID. \n“Born in Bristol\,” produced by Tennessee Tourism and Plan A Films\, is a 53-minute docudrama profiling the 2015 recording of the Orthophonic Joy: The 1927 Bristol Sessions Revisited CD project. Orthophonic Joy was produced in partnership with Tennessee Tourism and the Virginia Tourism Corporation. The film features interviews with artists including Ashley Campbell\, Ashley Monroe\, Dolly Parton\, Emmylou Harris\, Eric Church\, Marty Stuart\, Shannon Campbell\, Sheryl Crow\, Steve Earle\, and Vince Gill\, as well as GRAMMY-winning producer Carl Jackson. Cinematic reenactments were shot in several locations in Historic Downtown Bristol. \n“Born in Bristol” will premiere globally on Saturday\, July 30 at 10/9c on Circle Network and repeats throughout August. It will also debut on connected devices worldwide on DittyTV on Saturday\, July 30 at 8/7c with repeats in August. Band members Craig Wayne Boyd\, Adam Wakefield\, and Casey James each rose to notoriety through their fan-favorite performances on The Voice and American Idol. What started from an impromptu jam session between James and Boyd\, who later brought Wakefield into the musical conversation\, has emerged as a perfect storm of harmony borrowing from the traditions of country\, gospel\, Americana\, bluegrass and the blues. Texas Hill’s debut album Heaven Down Here was released in January. \nMusic fans are encouraged to bring their favorite outdoor chair. Food options will also be available from local vendors. The festival location is on the grounds of the Farmers Market (300 Clinchfield St / Center Street\, Downtown Kingsport) \nFirst held in 2008\, Racks by the Tracks is entering its 10th year stronger than ever. Although we love beer\, BBQ and live music\, our chief motivation in putting on this festival is to make our community and region a more exciting and vibrant place to be. Our festival attendees come primarily from Tennessee\, Virginia\, North Carolina and Kentucky. Racks by the Tracks is committed to giving back to our community. A new and exciting crop of talents were springing up all over the place – and Brown remembers it like it was yesterday. \n“I remember Randy Travis and I hit at about the same time\,” he recalls. “Our first singles were so close to each other. I’m not sure if it was the same week or not. Then you had Marty Stuart\, Billy Burnette – who went on to Fleetwood Mac. Steve Earle was there\, too. I saw him at the Grand Ole Opry a few weeks ago\, and we talked about that year. We had a great year. We called our club ‘The Great Credibility Scare of 1986.’ All of us were having fun\, there was no competition between us\, and we all loved each other. Keith Whitley was one of my best friends\, as well\, and we were touring together a lot. It was a great time.” \nBrown’s initial entry to country radio was the sad and soulful “Drowning In Memories.” That Top-40 single helped him to establish himself\, and by the winter of 1986\, he had warmed up to audiences with the bluesy hit “I Tell It Like It Used To Be.” Other hits quickly followed\, with his first self-penned release “Hell And High Water\,” which became his first number one song. “I Wish That I Could Hurt That Way Again” and “Don’t Go To Strangers” were the next releases\, which all became chart-toppers.
