Kingsport drivers need to plan for Main Street closure

Kingsport public works will be closing off a section of downtown Main Street on Wednesday to begin the next phase of a multi-million dollar rebuild project.

The closure extends from Sullivan Street to Unicoi Street. The work will refurbish and strengthen the base of the roadway while installing utility lines underground and adding landscaping and brick crosswalks.

City leaders have estimated a two-year process to complete the $20 million project.
