Community helps Emory & Henry athlete with plans to stay in U.S. due to war in Ukraine

A tennis player at Emory & Henry College has gotten a major assist from complete strangers as she prepares for a new life in the U.S.

Sabina Chernega is making arrangements to stay stateside due to ongoing conflict with Russia in her native Ukraine where her parents still reside.

The college touted a GoFundMe account on social media that was raising funds to help Sabina and within 24 hours, the project exceeded its goal and closed with more than $7,000 in donations.
