UPDATE: Carter County murder suspect makes first Criminal Court appearance

A Carter County, Tennessee man indicted on a murder charge earlier this year made his first appearance in Criminal Court.

Jacob Allen Morley was arraigned on five charges including first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and theft. The case is connected to the February disappearance of Cody Birchfield whose body was found under a mobile home that police said belonged to Morley.

An autopsy revealed Birchfield died from a single gunshot to the back of the head. Morley is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 24th.
