6 month moratorium proposed for new campgrounds in Bristol TN
A proposed six-month moratorium on any new permanent campgrounds has been approved on first reading by the Bristol, Tennessee City Council. City leaders said the proposed moratorium will give them time to review and possibly change existing regulations. During the six moratorium, the city would not accept or approve any new permanent campgrounds and it would not affect existing permanent campgrounds. The Planning Commission has discussed limiting permanent campgrounds in the B-3 zone and in specific corridors, in areas like Highway 394, West State Street, and Volunteer Parkway corridors. Facilities that operate as temporary campgrounds also would not be affected by the moratorium. The proposed moratorium will have to pass on second reading before going into effect.
