Abingdon to launch new interactive historical initiative

The Town of Abingdon is launching a new interactive historical initiative to bring the town’s Revolutionary War–era history to life. The initiative is called “Traveling Back to Revolutionary Times.” The project includes historically themed plaques placed at sites around town, each featuring QR codes that unlock digital content. Leaders say it’s a great way to learn more about the town’s extensive history. Town leaders say the free mobile app is planned to be launched in February 2026.
