Appalachian School of Law to receive financial assistance
The Buchanan County Board of Supervisors plans to fund the Appalachian School of Law to help the school through its financial struggles. In a 6-1 vote Monday, the Buchanan County Board of Supervisors agreed to form a committee with representatives from the board, the county industrial development board and the law school to write the agreement. The deal will be worth $6 million. In December 2025, the Board of Supervisors held an emergency meeting to address the financial issues of the school. It was down to less than 100 students in 2013, and now has 184 students, with over 400 applicants for the upcoming year. The contract is expected to be signed at a joint meeting on February 10.
