Austin Peay University professor reinstated after firing for Charlie Kirk comments

A professor at a Tennessee college criticized by US Senator Marsha Blackburn for a post on X following Charlie Kirk’s assassination in September was reinstated to his position as theatre professor.

In a published report on ClarksvilleNow.com, Austin Peay State University President Mike Licari said the school did not follow rules and termination policies when they dismissed tenured Professor Darren Michael a day after the Kirk shooting for what the school called reputational damage in his post.

Michael’s social media had Kirk’s comments from a 2023 appearance where he made comments about the Second Amendment.
