Body found in Wise County identified

Wise County Sheriff Grant Kilgore says a body found after a welfare check was requested has been identified during a preliminary investigation.

The remains of 57-year-old Shelly Collene Hamilton were located near Rock Switch between the town of Wise and the city of Norton.

Kilgore’s statement said every aspect of the incident will be investigated and the case remains open. Hamilton’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
