Bristol VA sends letter urging compliance to former VI campus owner
The City of Bristol just sent a formal letter of request to an attorney representing the owners of the former Virginia Intermont Campus to urge compliance. The owners of the property are a part of a Chinese-based company called US Magis International. City Manager Randall Eads sent a formal email to an attorney for US Magis on December 15 to check the status of the requests that were originally submitted on August 19 by the city. Those actions included mowing and securing the property, and hiring an architect. The letter to attorney John Kieffer said that the city will initiate legal action in early January of 2026 if the city does not see action on the items listed in the request. Keiffer told WJHL that he and the property owners met with an architect on December 2nd, and it will likely take about 75 days for design plans. Keiffer also said that US Magis plans to renovate the property into a new campus for medical education use.
