Bus Driver Shortage Forcing Changes To KATS Routes In Kingsport

It seems there’s a shortage for just about everything these days. And now a bus driver shortage is affecting bus routes on the Kingsport Area Transit System. Beginning Tuesday December 6th, KATS is temporarily reducing its services on Routes five and six. A hybrid route of 5 and 6 will be offered in their place to continue to serve the most frequented destinations. The American Public Transportation Association reports 92 percent of public transit agencies are having difficulty hiring new employees, especially bus drivers.
