Crews close off portion of downtown after Morristown’s Parks Belk fire
12:30 p.m. Wednesday
Streets in downtown Morristown are blocked off as fire crews resume work on the collapsed Parks Belk building.
The blaze caused the roof and several floors of the structure to break apart. A city statement said several blocks are closed for safety, beginning at Main Street and the surrounding streets of Cumberland, North, and Peavine. Contractors began a renovation project on the 75-year-old structure in November.
