FEMA announces $9 million in federal funding for disaster repair and cleanup
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced nearly $9 million in federal funding to Tennessee communities affected by Hurricane Helene and other disasters. Those funds are through FEMA’s Public Assistance grant program, which has a minimum federal share of 75%. Some of the money is allocated for public infrastructure projects and $1.4 million for various road repairs in Carter, Haywood and Unicoi counties. Also $1.3 million is set aside for various electrical and utility repairs including the Unicoi County Gas Utility District, and another 1.2 million for continued debris removal.
