FEMA approves funding for SWVA repair projects
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved nearly $2 million for road repairs in two Southwest Virginia counties after flooding and mudslides in July 2022. The agency recently approved a $1.9 million grant to the Virginia Department of Transportation for the restoration of roads and highways in Buchanan and Tazewell counties. Another $2.5 million was also approved for the Virginia Department of Emergency Management for costs related to a snowstorm in January 2022. The Town of Wytheville was also awarded $4.2 million for repairs to the town’s sewage plant, which was damaged in Hurricane Helene.
