Former Bristol bookkeeper indicted on federal fraud charges
Federal prosecutors said a bookkeeper of four decades for a Bristol, Virginia business dipped into their bank accounts to finance a 400-item shopping spree on Amazon.
The indictment against Angela Sue Conley, 60, said she used her access to the company’s bankroll to transfer funds to a credit card for personal use over a nearly 5-year period, amounting to theft of more than $200,000. Items like high heel shoes and a pool cover were among the items Conley bought with the illegal funds along with paying multiple monthly bills.
Conley is charged with five counts each of wire and mail fraud. The report from US District Court in Abingdon did not identify the business that employed Conley.
