Grate collapses at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin Hall injuring Washington County, Virginia students

A freak accident at Virginia Tech injured several students from Washington County, Virginia when a utility grate they were standing on collapsed, dropping them 6 feet down.
The students were on the Blacksburg campus for a tour of facilities Thursday morning when the incident occurred at Pamplin Hall. The students were able to get out of the opening. Three of them were taken to a hospital for more evaluation while seven were treated at the scene.
The group resumed their tour later in the day. Barricades were placed around the grate at Pamplin while similar locations on campus were being evaluated.
