Meadowview man accused in strangulation death of aunt

A Meadowview, Virginia man who police said lived with his aunt is the prime suspect in her death.

Roger Lee Stout, 54, is charged with second-degree murder and strangulation in the death of 77-year-old Shirley Stout who was found unresponsive at her home Wednesday afternoon and later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Sheriff Blake Andis said the initial caller said the woman was injured after falling down. Roger Stout was later taken into custody after investigators conferred with Commonwealth’s Attorney Josh Cumbow and he is being held without bond.
