MLK Jr. Day events

Communities across the region are hosting events for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday. The YWCA in Bristol, Tenn., will host an MLK Children’s Day Celebration at the YWCA Gym from noon to 1:30 p.m. The event and activities are designed to be age-appropriate and help children learn about history, diversity, and inclusion while celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Va., will host a community panel and discussion in honor of King at 6 p.m. That panel is free to attend. The Carver Recreation Center in Johnson City will host its annual dinner to honor King and those in the community who make it special. The event is at 6 p.m. and is free to attend. Before the dinner, the center will host a Peace Walk that will be less than two miles.
