NEW: Police report death of Dobyns Bennett student after shooting

Counselors will be on site at Dobyns Bennett High School following a deadly shooting involving a student at a housing complex on Bowater Drive in Kingsport.

The preliminary report from city police said the male victim was wounded near Holston Terrace Apartments and investigators say the incident was isolated with no threat to the public.

The statement said the name of the victim would not be released by police. There’s no word on a motive or what led up to the shooting.
