NRC Conducting Special Inspection At Erwin’s Nuclear Fuel Services

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says it will be 45 days before its report on a self reported incident at Erwin’s Nuclear Fuel Services Plant. The federal agency is conducting a special inspection after a loss of safety controls occurred earlier this month. NFS staff members were conducting a routine inspection and found problems with a drainage system in the plant that could potentially affect its safety function. The condition did not result in any radiation exposures to workers, environment or the public according to a statement from Nuclear Fuel Services.
