‘Poison’: Washington County law leaders get 149 grand jury indictments

Washington County, Virginia Sheriff Blake Andis said ‘poison’ is on the roads and streets with dealers and plenty of customers.

On Monday, both were indicted by a grand jury. The final total was 149 indictments, 63 individuals, and 36 arrests with more to come.

“Hard drugs,” as Andis called them, are being peddled and they are the major Schedule I variety, including Fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine. He said a collective of local, state, and federal agencies came together to take them out.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Josh Cumbow said the area was unique with four neighboring states and several transportation hubs that dealers can take to get in, including two major interstates.

The names of the 63 individuals and charges released by Andis’ and Cumbow’s offices were:

1. Roger Paul Alexander, age 35, of Bristol, Virginia has been charged with:
One (1) count of possession with the intent to distribute Methamphetamine

2. Brandi Nichole Barker, age 36, of Abingdon, Virginia has been charged with:
Three (3) counts of distributing Methamphetamine

3. Amanda Dawn Bernabe, age 38, of Abingdon, Virginia has been charged with:
One (1) count of possession with the intent to distribute Methamphetamine

4. Anita Dale Bettin, age 52, of Bristol, Virginia, has been charged with:
Two (2) counts of distributing Fentanyl

5. Michelle Lee Blankenship, age 42, of Abingdon, Virginia, has been charged with:
One (1) count of distributing Methamphetamine

6. Dennis Cody Blevins, age 38, of Bristol, Tennessee, has been charged with:
Three (3) counts of distributing Methamphetamine
One (1) count of bringing one (1) ounce or more of Methamphetamine in to the Commonwealth of
Virginia
One (1) count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

7. Cora Jewel Bordwine, age 21, of Meadowview, Virginia, has been charged with:
Four (4) counts of distributing Fentanyl
One (1) count of possession with the intent to distribute Cocaine

8. John William Branson, age 41, of Abingdon, Virginia, has been charged with:
One (1) count of possession with the intent to distribute Methamphetamine

9. Rebecca Charlene Burton Casey, age 37, of Abingdon, Virginia, has been charged with:
One (1) count of possession with the intent to distribute Methamphetamine

10. Tony Velasquez Clough, age 54, of Marion, Virginia, has been charged with:
One (1) count of possession with the intent to distribute Methamphetamine

11. Olivia Abigail Coleman, age 36, of Bristol, Virginia, has been charged with:
