Sean Williams NC drug trial begins Monday
Alleged serial rapist, convicted child sex offender and former downtown Johnson City resident Sean Williams’s federal trial on drug charges begins Monday in Western North Carolina U.S. District Court. Williams is facing two counts for manufacturing, distributing or dispensing a controlled substance, methamphetamine and cocaine, which carry a mandatory minimum of 10 years if convicted of methamphetamine and a maximum of 20 years for cocaine. Those drugs were discovered in April 2023 and that ultimately led to Williams’s sex-related charges. A separate trial related to child sex abuse material allegedly discovered in Williams’s possession at the same time the drugs were discovered has been postponed several times, but could start in the court’s May term. Williams has already been sentenced to 95 years in prison for child sexual abuse material-related charges and escape. He will also face child rape charges in Washington County, Tenn., and will likely face charges for some of the alleged 60-plus sexual assaults of adult women that authorities say they discovered on digital devices seized during Williams North Carolina arrest.
