Second Harvest hosting special food distribution events for SNAP recipients

Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee is hosting a series of food distribution events to provide extra food assistance to SNAP recipients. SNAP Assistance Special Distributions aim to help those who need assistance due to SNAP benefit disruptions this month. Events are scheduled in Sullivan, Greene, and Unicoi Counties. The Tennessee Department of Human Services said that it received guidance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to start issuing full benefits to Tennessee recipients on Monday. Officials say December SNAP benefits will be issued in full on the customers’ normal date.
