Sullivan County Commissioner Gary Stidham to run for District 2 seat
Sullivan County Commissioner Gary Stidham announced his bid for the Tennessee House District 2 seat. That’s the seat currently held by Republican Rep. Bud Hulsey, who announced that he would retire after this term. Stidham announced Thursday that he had picked up the paperwork to run for the District 2 seat. Stidham is a U.S. Navy veteran who spent two decades managing the maintenance of nuclear submarine reactors and leading nearly 300 personnel. He also has more than 20 years of experience teaching Junior ROTC and high school government. House District 2 consists of part of Sullivan County, including Kingsport, Colonial Heights, and Blountville. The primary election will be held on August 6. The general election will take place on November 5.
