Swift water rescue team from Bristol, VA activated for Debby response

The Bristol, VA Fire Department Swift Water Rescue Team, also known as Virginia Task Force 4 has been activated by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and The Team is scheduled to deploy on Thursday morning to Danville, VA. The team will help conduct Search and Rescue Missions in Support of Tropical Storm Debby. In Danville the team will receive further instructions on their assigned area of operations. This year the team will be comprised of 13 members of the Bristol, VA Fire Department and also members of the Bristol, VA Police Department. Team members have received extensive training as Surface and Swift Water Technicians. Some members are also trained as watercraft operators. Task Force 4 is expected to work throughout the next few days as needed.
