TBI investigating another officer involved shooting in Bristol TN
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place early Saturday in Bristol, Tennessee. The TBI says Bristol police officers responded to a “report of a man threatening to harm himself at a residence” at approximately 11 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of Oak Road. Arriving officers learned the man had left the residence. Then just after 12:30 a.m. Officers responded to another call from the same residence involving the same individual. Officers made contact with the man outside the home before he retreated inside. That’s when the man armed himself with a knife and advanced toward officers. A stun gun deployment on the suspect was ineffective. The situation then escalated, ultimately resulting in officers shooting the suspect. The man was transported to an area hospital for treatment and no officers were injured in the incident.
