TDOE receives more than 56,000 applications for school vouchers
The Tennessee Department of Education received more than 56,000 applications for the state’s school voucher program as it begins its second year. The department released its totals on Wednesday as the application window for the Education Freedom Scholarship Program closed on February 6. The statement from the department said it had received 56,442 applications for the 2026-27 school year. The majority of those were new applications with more than 18,000 being renewal applications. Almost half of those new applicants applied for income-prioritized scholarships. Renewal applications have been reviewed, and the department said it has communicated its decisions to families. Applicants will receive emails from Notifications@TheoLearning.com for status updates.
