UPDATE: Carter County man charged with child sex crimes in 2020 sentenced to 15 years in prison

A Carter County, Tennessee man will spend 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of raping a child.

Police brought new information to state attorneys in April 2020 about possible child sex activity involving 61-year-old Joseph Sampson. Two months prior, a parent of a juvenile brought cell phone evidence of Sampson soliciting sexual favors resulting in criminal charges.

Investigators said the child was victimized in both cases.
