Virginia Governor Northam says the Commonwealth is closer than ever to closing digital divide

The State of Virginia is closer than ever to its goal of achieving universal broadband access by 2024. Governor Northam says the Commonwealth received a record number of local and private sector applications to match state broadband investments—putting Virginia on track to become one of the first states to end the digital divide. Governor Northam says, “Broadband is as critical today as electricity was in the last century.” Northam has made strides in this effort since he first took office, when more than 500,000 Virginians did not have access to high-speed internet.
