VSP investigating I-81 crash that killed Smyth County man

Virginia State Police are investigating a one-vehicle crash that has taken the life of a Smyth, County man. The accident happened around at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 81 northbound in Montgomery County near mile marker 117. A Ford F750 truck driven by 56 year old Michael D. Williams from Smyth County was traveling northbound on I-81 when it lost control, struck a guardrail and overturned. Williams, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The crash remains under investigation.
