“Workers Over Billionaires” protest takes place in Bristol

Residents in Bristol, Tennessee joined the ‘Workers Over Billionaires’ Labor Day protests that were being held nationwide. The rally in Bristol was organized by several groups including the Sullivan County Democratic Party. Organizers said the protests were centered around the importance of workers’ rights and the history of Labor Day. Protesters sited a variety of reasons for participating including the right to unionize, and to government budget cuts that have impacted the federal workforce. Organizers also said that those who were out protesting can also make their voices known on Election Day.
