Two Buchanan County, Virginia students chosen as all-star band members marching at Macy’s

Two high school students from Buchanan County, Virginia were chosen from hundreds of prospective marching band members across the US to perform as part of an all-star group at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

Rachel Tackett and Elijah Sanders will be aligned with Macy’s Great American Marching Band and were also awarded a 6-day stay in the Big Apple for the event, rehearsals and sightseeing.

The Buchanan County Board of Supervisors made a financial contribution to help finish the financing for the students’ trip.

Tackett and Sanders are two of the 185 musicians who will perform for more than 3 million along the parade route and millions more around the world via telecast.
