Bumpus Cove residents receive recovery checks from Mountain Ways
Some residents in flood-stricken Bumpus Cove were presented with checks on Wednesday to assist their recovery more than a year after Hurricane Helene. Eight homeowners in Washington County, TN received the funds to support the rebuilding of their homes and land. The recipients received an equal share of $105,000 raised by Mountain Ways. Washington County, TN Mayor Joe Grandy, Bristol Motor Speedway President Jerry Caldwell and other local leaders presented the checks to flood victims at the First Tennessee Development District’s office. While homeowners have been able to receive federal funding for homes and structures, financial assistance to restore the actual land that homes sit on can be more difficult to secure. The check distribution is aimed to supplement that need.
