Sport-changing settlement reached between NASCAR and race teams
23XI co-owner and NBA great Michael Jordan has settled an antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR ownership—a decision that will likely change the sport in the long term.
Jordan and Front Row Motorsports owner Bob Jenkins sued NASCAR 15 months ago, accusing the sanctioning body of a monopoly system with charter agreements that saddled teams into patterns of economic distress and no future growth along with ownership of half the tracks the teams race on.
Hall of Fame driver Dale Earnhardt Jr said his concern was the potential of NASCAR tracks being sold and possibly bulldozed out, leaving teams with just road courses and street races.
Terms of the settlement between Jordan’s team and NASCAR will be kept confidential.
