Marion woman charged in Asheville I-240 hit and run
Asheville police investigators concluded their review of a vehicle collision with a pedestrian near Interstate 240 and says a Southwest Virginia woman is at fault.
A city report said Shania Renee Dallachiesa, 37, was arrested without incident in Marion and faces extradition to North Carolina. Prosecutors said Dallachiesa was eastbound and exiting I-240 just before midnight on Saturday when she hit the victim identified as Daniel Anthony Duryea, 33 and then left the scene after calling for emergency help.
Police said Duryea was hit by a second vehicle while still in the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dallachiesa is charged with felony hit and run causing injury and driving on a revoked license.
