National Weather Service says snow and ice combo could arrive Friday

Residents around the Mountain Empire and Coalfields should prepare for weekend snow as the National Weather Service says their data continues to support chances for winter weather Friday and Saturday.

Forecasters posted significant snow and ice are possible but the path of the system is not certain at this point or what accumulations will be.

The agency said it provides an ideal time to check winter weather emergency packs in your home and car. Some items to add include a radio, batteries, hygiene items, ample supplies of food, any medications and items for your pets.
