Wise County officers box-in Ohio sexual assault suspect on Big Stone Gap highway

A suspect in a sexual assault case in Scioto (SIGH-OH-DUH) County, Ohio was stopped on US 23 in Big Stone Gap early Tuesday when officers observed him failing to stay in his lane.

Wise County deputies were already on the lookout for Kenneth Phillips, 47, when his truck was spotted headed southbound.

After running over spike strips and coming to a stop at the entrance to Mountain Empire Community College, the report said officers heard a gunshot from the vehicle after he was boxed-in. Phillips was taken for treatment after a self-inflected wound to the leg.
