Elizabethton veteran honors late daughter with donation for new park
An Elizabethton veteran is honoring his late daughter by giving back to the city with a donation for a new park. 77-year-old Louie Greene was in the Air Force and serving in Vietnam when he received the news that his daughter, Sandra, was stillborn. Greene said that it is a heartbreak he hasn’t gotten over. In honor of his late daughter, Greene has donated over $160,000 to the City of Elizabethton to help fund the construction of the Sandra Renee Greene Park. The park is planned for the intersection of Race Street and Pine Street and Greene said he hopes it will be completed by the summer.
