Sullivan County first responders will be outfitted with pet microchip scanners
First responders in Sullivan County have partnered with the Sullivan County Animal Shelter to outfit themselves with microchip scanners for pets. Animal shelter leadership said first responders are often the first to come across lost pets or strays. Operation SafePet will help first responders determine if a pet has been microchipped by their owner by equipping them with microchip scanners. The scanners can also be used for checking pets that have been hit by vehicles and that can help provide closure for owners who might not know what happened to their pet.
