Sullivan County man arrested after welfare check from Gate City Police
A Sullivan County man arrested Sunday after a welfare check. The Gate City Police Department responded to an apartment after a concerned person reported a text message that said “help” to police. The officer arrived and heard a disturbance inside and then spoke with a man, who was detained. A woman with injuries “consistent with an assault”, was also at the apartment. The officer saw baggies of what are believed to be drugs in plain view. A search warrant was issued, and Anthony Carrier of Sullivan County was taken into custody. Carrier is facing multiple drug charges and also charged with Malicious Wounding, and Domestic Assault. He was also found to be wanted in Tennessee on a felony probation violation charge. Additional charges could be filed based on the results of lab analysis of the suspected drugs.
