Manufacturing jobs decline in TN over the last year
Information from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development shows that manufacturing jobs slipped 1.7% over the past year. The sector that lost the most was transportation equipment manufacturing, with jobs decreasing 4.8% from the previous year. Experts say that the uncertainty in manufacturing is because of rapid automation, global competition, tariffs and trade policies. While overall manufacturing jobs dropped, the data showed that computer and electronic product manufacturing jobs increased in the state by 6.5%.
