VA Dept. of Corrections reports inmate death at Keen Mountain

The Virginia Department of Corrections says that an inmate at Keen Mountain Correctional Center has died after an “apparent attack by another inmate.” The incident happened early Thursday morning. Corrections team members attempted to conduct life-saving measures until first responders arrived at the scene and the report says the apparent attack is an isolated incident. The department said there was no active threat and no team members or other inmates were injured. An investigation is underway.
