New BlueCross Healthy Place at Kingsport’s Riverwalk Park prepares for grand opening
A new six-acre park located along Industry Drive and the Holston River connected to the Kingsport Greenbelt is getting ready to official open. The new BlueCross Healthy Place at Kingsport’s Riverwalk Park features separate playgrounds for 2-5 year olds and 5-12 year olds, a splash pad, pavilion, basketball wall, open green space, pickleball courts, kayak launch, and an adult fitness area. A grand opening ceremony will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Officials said the splash pad is expected to open on Memorial Day, May 25. BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee funded the park through its Healthy Places program and it’s the second BlueCross Healthy Place in the city. The first project opened in 2020 at the Kingsport Miracle League Complex. The park will be open from dawn to dusk, and the pickleball courts will be open until 10 p.m.
