Father, grandmother now charged with homicide in death of Bristol toddler
Additional charges have been filed by Bristol, Virginia police based on the April 23rd tractor accident that killed a three-year-old boy.
A felony homicide charge has been levied against 21-year-old Austin Tyler-Raymond Tester and his mother Kelly after investigators determined 22 minutes elapsed between the time of the accident and emergency responders arriving at the crash site on Davis Alley- 11 minutes after the initial 911 call.
The two adults waited until they left the crash to call police, significantly impacting the ability to provide timely life-saving measures, according to the city report.
“Agonal breathing was detected, and CPR was immediately initiated (on the toddler),” the report said. “The child was transported to Bristol Regional Medical Center, where life-saving measures continued. The child was pronounced deceased at 12:35 p.m.”
Austin Tester told police he hid at his mother’s house because he had an outstanding criminal warrant while his mother lied to police about Austin being at her home, the report said. Both adults remain in jail without bond.
