Delivery of rain ends burn ban in North Carolina, Roan Mountain to remain fire free
The North Carolina Forest Service has terminated their open burning ban following a full month of wildfires that charred more than 10,000 acres.
All 81 counties had been under the federal directive since March 28th and residents can now receive permits for outdoor burning from forestry officials with widespread rain falling over several days.
The agency noted that the Roan Mountain area of the Pisgah National Forest will remain fire free until further notice due to the amount of areas still covered with woody debris from Hurricane Helene.
