Second Harvest of NETN hosting 33rd annual Letter Carriers Food Drive this Saturday
Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee will host its 33rd annual Letter Carriers Food Drive on Saturday. The food drive, also known as the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, has grown into the nation’s largest one-day drive, according to Second Harvest. Each year, letter carriers across the country go on their usual routes to collect donations of non-perishable food items to benefit local food pantries. Executive director of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee, Rhonda Chafin, said local pantries are in urgent need for food donations. The Food Bank provides food to over 43,000 people each month, and more donations are necessary to ensure that they are able to keep up with demand. Chafin said those who want to participate can leave a bag of non-perishable items at their mailbox on Saturday before their mail carrier arrives.
