Second Harvest Food Bank gets ready for summer food program
Second Harvest Food Bank is ramping up its summer hunger-relief efforts in Northeast Tennessee. Volunteers will help pack boxes for its summer food program. Second Harvest plans to distribute boxes of food for kids at dozens of sites across the region this summer. Each week, families will receive a box that includes both breakfast and lunch for seven days. The food bank’s goal is to distribute 300,000 boxes across eight counties of Northeast Tennessee to families with children without access to free or reduced lunch, or access to the backpack program this summer.
