Washington County TN budget does not include tax increase
The Washington County Commission will consider a fiscal 2027 budget next month that does not include a tax increase after the county’s budget committee unanimously recommended a new budget Thursday. The budget allocates $167.8 million in spending and will be balanced by up to $6 million in reserve funds. Projected revenues are more than $5 million shy of the projected expenditures. The proposed budget will be published around June 6-8 with a public hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. June 18 at the George Jaynes Justice Center. The budget committee will meet after that public hearing to consider any potential changes and then the full County Commission is scheduled to consider the final budget at a meeting on June 18. The budget includes money for employee salary increases in each department and will keep the tax rate at $1.71 per $100 of assessed value.
